How getting paid to play works

Reward sites — sometimes called offerwalls — get paid by mobile-game makers to bring in new players. You install a game through the reward site's link and play it. When you hit the goals the game set — reach a level, play for a certain number of days — the game maker pays the reward site, and it passes most of that on to you. No cost, no catch; you're paid for being a new player who sticks around.

The number you see on a game is the most you can earn — the total for finishing every goal, which usually means reaching high levels inside a time limit. It's a ceiling, not a promise. But the goals along the way pay real money on their own, so you don't have to finish a game to earn from it — plenty of people make a steady side income by picking games with reachable goals and cashing out as they go. Open a game's goals before you start so you can see what's worth your time.

The reward sites we compare

We track 44 reward sites and match each game across them, because the same game pays very different amounts depending on where you start it. These are the ones carrying the most games right now.

"Biggest payout" is the highest single-game total that site advertises — a full-completion figure, not a typical earn. Games and rewards change daily; we re-check them.

Is it legit, or a scam?

It's legit, and people genuinely earn from it — some make a decent, regular side income. The money comes from real advertising budgets, the same way cashback does: game makers pay to bring in players who stick around. The headline totals take real commitment, but you don't have to hit them to earn — the goals along the way pay out on their own. Pick games you'd enjoy, aim for the goals you can actually reach, and it adds up.

How much can you really earn?

It depends on which games you pick and how far you take them. The headline is the ceiling — the full-completion total — but regular earners don't chase it blindly. They go for games with reachable goals, do the levels that pay well for the time they take, and run several at once. Read a game's goals, target the ones worth your time, and cash them out as you clear them. Do that across a few games and it becomes a real, steady earner rather than a one-off.

Do you have to spend money?

No — plenty of people earn without spending a penny, by sticking to games whose goals you can reach through normal play. The very top tier of some games (a high level on a tight clock) can be faster with in-game purchases, but that's a choice, not a requirement, and often not worth it. Chase the goals you can hit for free, and skip any that would cost you more than they pay.

Why the same game pays different amounts

Each reward site strikes its own deal with the game maker and keeps a different cut, so the same game can pay $16 on one site and $3,000 on another. That's the whole reason to compare before you install — starting through the wrong site can leave most of the reward on the table. Pick the highest payer that's available on your device, then install fresh through its link.

iOS vs Android

Offers differ by device — a game paying big on iOS may not be listed for Android, and the goals and amounts can differ too. Filter to your device so you only see what you can actually play, and check the goals on the specific listing rather than assuming they match across phones.

How to actually complete them

1
Install fresh through the linkIf you already have the game, it usually won't track. Uninstall first, then install through the reward site.
2
Follow the goals in orderThey're a checklist. Know the next milestone and its deadline before you play.
3
Watch the clockMost goals have time limits ("reach level 20 in 20 days"). Miss it and that reward is gone.
4
Use a guideFor the big games, a walkthrough that tells you where to spend your time makes the difference between quitting and cashing out.

How long until you get paid

Each goal usually credits within minutes to a day of you hitting it, then the reward site holds it briefly to confirm it's genuine before you can withdraw. Payout methods and minimums vary by site — PayPal, gift cards, crypto — so check the site's terms. Because rewards pay per goal, you don't have to finish a whole game to start earning; the early milestones pay out on their own.

A word on cash tournament games

Some listings (Solitaire Cash, Bingo Cash, Blitz and similar) aren't the usual "reach a level" deal — they're real-money skill contests where you pay to enter cash games. They can pay quickly, but you're risking your own money, and they aren't legal in every US state. Treat them differently from the free-to-play games, and check your local rules before you put money in.

Is money from games taxable?

Rewards from playing are generally treated as income, not a rebate — unlike shopping cashback. If you earn a meaningful amount, it may be reportable. This is general information, not tax advice; check with a professional for your situation.

Play-to-earn FAQs

Is get-paid-to-play free?

Playing is free and the reward sites don't charge you. The catch is time — and for the top payouts, often in-game spending to reach levels in time. The early goals are genuinely free money.

Why didn't my reward track?

Almost always because the game was already installed, or you didn't install through the reward site's link. Start from a fresh install via the link, and don't tap other offers for the same game.

Can I do the same game on two sites?

No — you install it once, through one site, and only that site credits you. Which is exactly why it's worth comparing first and picking the highest payer.

How do I get the full payout?

Complete every goal, in order, inside each deadline — usually reaching very high levels. Most people don't; they take the early and mid goals and move on. That's a perfectly good way to play it.

Which pays more, iOS or Android?

It depends on the game — some pay more on one platform, and a few games are only offered on one. Filter to your device and compare the listings you can actually play.
